Learning Exchange Program

Our Institutional Exchange Program

The aim of our Institutional Exchange Program (20 hours formal time plus time for reading, writing and research) is to improve an institution’s social, cultural and civic literacy and make it an ideal learning community.

To host a Learning Exchange series at your own place of work,  please contact Fourth World Learning Consortium (fourthworldcooperative@gmail.com) and begin developing your institutional plan to pursue the liberal arts

The program includes workshops and materials, a mealtime conversation and day trip to visit community resources that encourage creativity, conversation and a love for books and travel.

Base Fee for the 20 hour formal program (plus time for reading, research and writing) includes four workshops (2 hours each) on reading and note-taking, democratic learning and civil conversation; a supper club event in your community and a regional fieldwork experience.

The Fourth World Learning Consortium program includes workshops on: (1) Socratic discussion; (2) the value of books and family meals; (3) the "quadratics" of learning and other related "student-first" teaching approaches; (4) notebooks and the "good life" of the mind.

The program involves a day-long regional natural-cultural-creative-scientific experience (related to the organization's mission) ending with a group mealtime conversation at a community learning resource (church, restaurant, school or farm) as well as didactic guides, books and invitations to apply for creative contests.
